Più o meno come ai Golden Globes, sono The Bear e Succession a fare incetta di premi. Niente da fare per le attrici italiane
La cerimonia degli Emmy Awards 2024 ha ribadito le attese pregresse, presentando una distribuzione di premi caratterizzata da continuità e coerenza. Sebbene le candidature riflettessero la stagione televisiva 2022-2023, lo sciopero degli attori ha posticipato la consegna dei premi, inizialmente programmata per settembre 2023. Gli Emmy Awards 2024 sono giunti in seguito ai Golden Globes e ai Critics Choice Awards, eventi che hanno accolto molte delle stesse figure di spicco premiate. La cerimonia è stata trasmessa in diretta su Fox (Sky e Now in Italia) dal Peacock Theatre di Downtown Los Angeles. Durante le tre ore di spettacolo, Anthony Anderson ha regalato momenti di leggerezza attraverso sketch comici, mentre reunion di cast di serie iconiche come ‘All in the Family’ e ‘Ally McBeal’ hanno aggiunto un tocco nostalgico e emozionante all’evento.
Le grandi vincitrici della serata sono state le serie Succession, nel genere drammatico, e The Bear, nel genere comico. Entrambe le produzioni hanno raggiunto il massimo con sei premi ciascuna, ottenendo riconoscimenti prestigiosi come miglior serie e interpretazioni eccezionali da parte di attori quali Kieran Culkin e Sarah Snook per Succession e Jeremy Allen White per The Bear.
Nonostante ciò, alcune opere di rilievo hanno sorprendentemente ricevuto una considerazione inferiore. La conclusione di Better Call Saul è stata ignorata dalla Television Academy, mentre Ted Lasso, generalmente elogiata, ha ottenuto solo due premi minori su otto nomination. Al contrario, la miniserie Beef ha consolidato il proprio successo, conquistando cinque premi, tra cui quello per la migliore miniserie e le interpretazioni di Ali Wong e Steven Yeun.
L’evento è stato arricchito da momenti toccanti, come la partecipazione di Christina Applegate, ritiratasi a causa della sclerosi multipla, e l’omaggio a Matthew Perry nel segmento “In Memoriam”. Tuttavia, opere e interpreti ampiamente elogiati sono rimasti a bocca asciutta. Ad esempio, The White Lotus è stata riconosciuta principalmente per la straordinaria performance di Jennifer Coolidge, mentre le candidate italiane Sabrina Impacciatore e Simona Tabasco non hanno conquistato il premio.
